What disability does Paralympics Danielle Aitchison have?

Aitchison was born with a disability that interferes with her mobility, muscular tone, and posture. She was affected by one of the forms of cerebral palsy named Antaxia.

The journey to becoming a successful runner was not easy for her. Except for cerebral palsy, she also suffered from severe jaundice and 80-90 percent hearing loss. Her parents shared that when she was taken to the hospital for treatment, it was as if she died and was given a second chance.

She underwent surgeries to have a cochlear implant, which improved her hearing capacity. However, she continues to have issues during the match. She revealed that she had to retrain her hearing abilities as a result of the implant. She occasionally forgets to listen- on your marks, get, set, which is why she requires assistance during matches.

On top of that, she was later diagnosed with the second form of Cerebral palsy a few years back, which has resulted in her wobbling from time to time, even during the matches.

Despite all the pain, she has never given up. Her training cannot be continued for a long time period. She is allowed to train two-track sessions per week because of her low muscle tone, which worsens when fatigued. Thus, she and her coach Alan Mc Donald have adapted to different training approaches where they focus on quality rather than quantity.
