The Runner started last week, two days before her breakthrough 1:08:57 half marathon run, that she would attempt the American 10-mile record for a women’s-only event on Monday, November 23.
Janet Cherobon-Bawcom established the current record of 52:12 in 2014. D’Amato, who was expecting her first child, happened to be holding the finish line tape when Cherobon-Bawcom broke the record.
