Leeper described Moyers as a “wonderful man” when he hired him as a Nassau County deputy in 2015.
According to Leeper, Moyers recently got engaged to be married.
Leeper paid a visit to Moyers in the hospital and spoke with her fiancé and parents.
Several Nassau County deputies, some dressed in their uniforms, stood to watch outside the UF Health emergency facility Friday morning, waiting for word on their partner.

Authorities suspect Patrick McDowell, a 35-year-old former Marine from Jacksonville, of shooting Moyers. He is still on the run, and he is armed and deadly.
According to the Northeast Florida Fusion Center, McDowell has also been arrested on previous accusations of giving a false name to law authorities and aggravated possession of stolen guns.
McDowell is 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, with balding brown hair, blue eyes, and large holes in his ears.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office is searching for McDowell in a five-square-mile region with the help of authorities from around the state. The hunt includes as many as 300 people.
Furthermore, according to The Florida Times-Union, hundreds of police officers are looking for McDowell, who is suspected of shooting a police dog that was chasing him in a rural region.
Leeper stated that the entire encounter was captured on video by a Nassau County Sheriff’s Office camera.
